Similarly, the six-month visit visa has risen from £100 to £115. Other visa categories, including work and family visas, have also seen price adjustments, although specific details vary.
According to the UK government, the fee hike is necessary to sustain its immigration system and fund public sector wages. "It is fair and appropriate to ensure that those benefiting from our immigration services contribute to their costs," the Home Office stated. For many Nigerian students, studying in the UK is already a costly endeavor, with tuition fees and living expenses stretching their financial limits. Adeola Ogunsanya, a travel consultant based in Lagos, described the increase as a significant setback.

Tunde Ajayi, a prospective master's student, echoed similar concerns. "I’ve been saving for my studies, but with this unexpected cost increase, I might need to rethink my plans," he admitted.
