EPL: Bernardo Silva signs new contract with City

Portuguese football sensation, Bernardo Silva, has inked a fresh contract with Manchester City, extending his commitment to the club until the summer of 2026.

Despite rumors linking Bernardo Silva with a potential departure from Manchester City in the summer, he has put an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future by signing an extension. This decision comes as his previous contract was set to conclude in 2025. While clubs like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al-Hilal had shown interest in him, Manchester City stood firm in their stance, valuing him at £75 million and declining to part ways.

Speaking about his renewed contract, Bernardo Silva expressed,

"I've enjoyed six incredible years at Manchester City, and I'm thrilled to extend my time here. The achievement of winning the Treble last season was truly remarkable, and it's invigorating to be a part of a squad fueled by such enthusiasm and determination. Success only fuels the desire for more, and this club offers me the chance to continue achieving victories. I hold great affection for the manager, my teammates, and the fans, and I look forward to sharing more memorable moments in the years to come."

City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, added, "Bernardo's contribution during his tenure at the Etihad has been outstanding, and we are delighted that he has chosen to extend his contract with the club. His exceptional quality and technical prowess, combined with his relentless work ethic and professionalism, have elevated him to the ranks of the world's finest players. Bernardo played a pivotal role in our triumphant Treble season, and we have every confidence that he will contribute to capturing more trophies in the upcoming years."

Since joining Manchester City from Monaco in 2017, Silva has solidified his status as a pivotal player within Guardiola's squad. Across all competitions, he has recorded an impressive 55 goals and 59 assists in 308 appearances, including seven goals and eight assists in the previous season's 55 matches. Silva has amassed an impressive collection of 14 trophies during his tenure with the Citizens.

He received recognition as a member of the PFA Team of the Year in 2018-19 and secured a spot in the Champions League Team of the Season in 2022-23.
