President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has encouraged Nigerian youths to seize the forthcoming opportunities and leave their imprint on history. He conveyed this message on the occasion of International Youth Day 2023.
International Youth Day (IYD) is a designated United Nations awareness day aimed at focusing on cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.
In a statement provided by his media aide Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu reiterated his administration's dedication to creating substantial prospects for Nigerian youths, encompassing job creation, education, skills enhancement, digital innovation, financial technology, and youth participation in governance. He emphasized that youth empowerment remains a foundational aspect of ongoing reform efforts in various sectors, fostering an environment conducive to the flourishing of Nigerian youths and their contributions towards national growth and progress.
President Tinubu acknowledged the rising influence and impact of numerous young Nigerians in technology-related fields globally. He pledged to fulfill his campaign commitment of generating one million new jobs within the digital economy for their betterment and broader economic development of the nation.
He firmly subscribes to the principle of "to whom much is given, much is expected" and remains unwavering in his dedication to delivering results.
Aligned with this year's theme, "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World," President Tinubu implores young Nigerians to lead endeavors directed at achieving top-tier sustainable development, which aligns with his green job expansion agenda and advocacy for renewable energy solutions as a crucial part of Nigeria's present and future energy mix.
On this International Youth Day celebration, President Tinubu assures the younger generation that his administration will consistently engage with and heed their perspectives, aiming to incorporate their valuable and forward-thinking feedback.
Highlighting his commitment to active engagement, President Tinubu underscores tangible examples of his administration's responsiveness, including the enactment of The Student Loan Act and the provision of buses to Student Bodies in all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
