The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, addressed speculations on Wednesday that the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had acquired a N300 million armored Lexus LX600 vehicle merely a day after being sworn in by President Bola Tinubu.
During an interview following a tour of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit facility, Wike dismissed these rumors and emphasized the importance of refraining from damaging others' reputations.
He stated, "I have observed on social media that you (FCTA Permanent Secretary) supposedly purchased a N300 million bulletproof car, which I am supposedly using. I urge you all to knock on the vehicle and verify whether it's armored. With respect, we should exercise caution in avoiding harm to others."
Wike clarified, "Upon my arrival, the Permanent Secretary mentioned that there was a vehicle for our use, and the vehicle we employ is this one. I have not endorsed the acquisition of any car, nor have I utilized an official armored vehicle."
Addressing his car ownership as a former governor, he noted, "Did I have vehicles during my tenure as governor? Of course, as a governor, what else would you anticipate? However, as the FCT Minister, I do not employ a bulletproof vehicle. We must report accurately and avoid causing harm to one another."
He urged journalists to inspect the location where the national flag was mounted and ascertain whether the vehicle was indeed a bulletproof model, challenging them to investigate the veracity of the claims.
