The government has granted a 100% increase in allowances for members of the NYSC (National Youth Service Corps).
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream 2 NYSC program at the Kabba Bunu Local Government Area State Orientation Camp.
In addition to the increase in allowances, Governor Bello pledged a generous donation of N37.7 million as logistical support for the Youth Corps members. This support aims to facilitate a smooth transition to their respective places of primary assignment.
Governor Bello also called upon private sector employers to collaborate in prioritizing the welfare of NYSC members, recognizing their crucial role in nation-building.
Furthermore, the Governor delivered an inspiring message to the Corps members, encouraging them to uphold good conduct and embrace the spirit of unity in Nigeria. He emphasized the values of diligence, hard work, commitment, and understanding during their service years, underlining that these qualities would prepare them to overcome future challenges beyond their NYSC service period.
Governor Bello also commended the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Pastor (Mrs.) Adebimpe Williams, for her efforts in enhancing the camp's infrastructure and assured that other developmental requests would receive appropriate attention.
For the latest batch of the NYSC program, 1,888 corps members have been deployed to Kogi State, consisting of 977 males and 911 females.
