Medical Doctor Jailed For Stealing Hospital Beds In Akwa Ibom


 In Eket, the Akwa Ibom State High Court has delivered a verdict, sentencing Dr. Nwaopara Adolphus Uche, aged 39 and hailing from Mbieri in Imo State's Mbaitoli Local Government Area, to two years in prison. This judgment comes in response to Dr. Uche's theft of hospital beds from Immanuel General Hospital Eket and Immanuel Psychiatric Hospital, relocating them to his private clinic.

The presiding judge, Justice Nsemeke Daniel, emphasized that Dr. Uche had abused his position as the Medical Superintendent of Immanuel Psychiatric Hospital to commit this offense.

Additionally, Kubiat Anthony Isidore, a 28-year-old welder from Ikot Idim in Odoro Ikot, Essien Udim Local Government Area, was sentenced to one year in prison for conspiring with the doctor. Felix Samuel Ekwere, a 35-year-old security personnel from Ekpene Obo in Esit Eket, also received a one-year prison term. Ekwere admitted to the police that he had been instructed by the convicted Medical Superintendent to transport the stolen hospital beds.

These individuals were prosecuted by the state, represented by the Ministry of Justice.
