CAF Awards Super Eagles 3 Points After Situation In Libya

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted the Super Eagles of Nigeria three points and three goals following the canceled 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya. This decision strengthens Nigeria's position at the top of their qualifying group.

With this ruling, the Super Eagles now have 10 points from four matches, placing them four points ahead of their closest competitor, Benin. Meanwhile, Libya remains at the bottom of the group with just one point.

A draw in their upcoming match against Benin, set to take place in Abidjan next month, would secure Nigeria's spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will be hosted by Morocco in December 2025.

In addition to awarding the points, CAF also imposed a $50,000 fine on the Libyan Football Federation, which must be paid within 60 days of the ruling.
