The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has reassured Nigerians that the battle against corruption is not just ongoing—it’s gaining momentum. Speaking on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Abuja, he emphasized that the anti-graft agency is intensifying efforts to curb economic and financial crimes across the country.
In his goodwill message to Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, Olukoyede expressed confidence in Nigerians’ ability to dismantle corrupt practices through unity, determination, and resilience. According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the chairman believes that stamping out corruption requires collective effort and unwavering commitment from citizens at all levels.
“Nigerians are stronger than corruption,” Olukoyede stated. “No fraudulent scheme can weaken our shared resolve. We have the power and the resources to combat economic and financial crimes head-on.”
As fraudsters and corrupt individuals evolve their tactics, the EFCC remains vigilant. Olukoyede acknowledged that criminals continuously devise new strategies, especially within critical systems like the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). However, he assured the public that the commission is not only keeping up but is also strategically dismantling these corrupt networks.
Marking the end of Ramadan, Olukoyede urged Muslims to carry forward the values of self-discipline, sacrifice, and integrity beyond the fasting period. “Eid-el-Fitr reminds us of Allah’s grace, love, and the need to uphold honesty in all we do,” he remarked. “Let this be a season where we strengthen our resolve to reject corrupt practices and embrace accountability.”
