In a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s immigration system, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, ensuring she remains in office until December 31, 2026.
The announcement, made on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, underscores the administration’s confidence in Nandap’s leadership and the progress achieved under her watch.
Having joined the NIS ranks on October 9, 1989, Nandap has over three decades of experience in immigration management. She was first appointed Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, with an initial term set to end in August 2025. However, this extension grants her an additional 16 months, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to continuity and institutional reforms.
Since stepping into the role, Mrs. Nandap has spearheaded pivotal reforms, including:
