Premier League referee David Coote has been dismissed by the PGMOL following the emergence of controversial videos and messages.

The 42-year-old was initially suspended after a video surfaced online showing him making explicit comments about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. Coote reportedly used derogatory language, sparking significant backlash.

The controversy deepened when additional footage emerged, including allegations of him using a white substance during the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Coote also faced accusations related to match incidents, such as joking about issuing a yellow card during a game between Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion. Additionally, reports surfaced of him discussing plans for a "drugs party" during a Carabao Cup match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

In a statement, PGMOL confirmed Coote’s dismissal, citing a "serious breach of his employment contract" and describing his position as "untenable." Despite the termination, the organization pledged to support Coote’s welfare and confirmed his right to appeal the decision.

Coote, who officiated 112 Premier League matches since 2018, has denied compromising the integrity of his matches. He maintains that his personal challenges never influenced his professional conduct.
